Dear All,
In my opinion golden rice is certainly hope and not hype especially for developing nation like India where millions of children and adults still suffer from protein deficiency and malnutrition for the staple diet being Rice.

As a vivid biologist, I feel that there is a hope on this GE product Golden rice. And a big thanks to the researchers who have produced this.

Lets HOPE that it removes the suffering of diseases through the calories they make up.

Lets also hope that the strains could be successful in all areas leaving a BIG hope and satisfaction to the farmers.

And importantly, the quality of the rice must be acceptable. And I feel at this moment the farmers are to be educated on how and whats of this, otherwise Iam afraid that there would be another four letter word that could remain.

And at the outset,
shouldnt we understand till what extent these carotenes in Golden rice persist? I mean raw, cooked, boiled, hyper boiled, par rice etcetera....

Lets all reach the masses and give a hope not only to the farmers but also thump the rice researchers.

Dear All,
In my opinion golden rice is hope only when it is resistant to drought & pests,
Ofcourse it may be of nutrient value with high contents of vitamin A,but it should be high yielding & resistant variety than the normal ones so that farmers comeforward & cultivate it &get profit out of it.
